High Risk Obstetrics requires special care. Dr. Wood is experienced in caring for mothers-to-be who are at risk for complications because of advanced age, diabetes, high blood pressure, thyroid disease and other health concerns. We also provide prenatal care and delivery for women who are expecting twins.

Among the growing concerns of women today is infertility. We provide comprehensive evaluations for infertility in our office or can provide referrals for more specific medical requirements. Infertility often can be treated with lifestyle changes, medication, surgery or assisted reproductive technologies.

Wellness exams include Cholesterol screenings, Colon cancer screening, Thyroid testing, Immunizations, Pap Smears and Breast Exams.

A pelvic exam is performed by taking a swab across the surface of the cervix and submitting it to pathology doctors who look for precancerous cells.  This test is usually recommended for women once they become sexually active or at age 18, whichever comes first.

We offer oral contraceptives, injectable (Depo Provera©) and implantable (Nexplanon©) contraceptives, contraceptive patches and rings, intrauterine devices, diaphragm fitting and permanent sterilization (tubal ligations/Essure)

Women with or without risk factors will be referred to a variety of conveniently located radiology centers that provide mammograms this important screening test.

Sometimes the lining of the uterus is found outside the uterus and can cause painful periods, painful intercourse and difficulty with achieving a pregnancy. We can provide you diagnostic and therapeutic options, which may include medication (oral and injectable) and surgical treatment.

Women making this difficult transition in their lives will receive a health-status assessment so they can receive appropriate counsel and treatment. After screening you for conditions, we can provide treatment for associated symptoms, including hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, insomnia and irritability Hormone Replacement Therapy.  We counsel menopausal women on the safety and efficacy of hormone replacement therapy.

We offer surgical procedures for diagnosis and treatment of abnormal uterine bleeding, sterilization, management of pelvic pain, ovarian cysts, ectopic pregnancies, precancerous cervical lesions and pelvic support defects. Office and hospital operating-room procedures are available.

More than 1 in 5 women suffer from heavy periods. Endometrial Ablation is a minimally invasive, outpatient surgical procedure intended to destroy all or most of the tissue that is responsible for menstrual bleeding (the endometrium). We offer a variety of different types of Endometrial Ablations, in hospital or in-office setting.

Human Papillomavirus (HPV) causes genital warts, cervical cancer and precancerous lesions and is detected by pap smears. Medical and surgical treatment, as well as vaccinations, can be provided. The HPV vaccine became available in 2006, we have been able to vaccinate women against the virus responsible for genital warts and cervical cancer.
