HPV Vaccine is recommended (Gardasil Vaccine is given to girls and boys) Menses begin (average age is 12 ½) Exam required if problems are present or to begin contraception or sexually active First Exam – expect PAP Smear and Pelvic Exam, Breast Exam Annual Exam recommended Begin Mammograms – if no family history of breast cancer Perimenopause – hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, menses become irregular (consider hormone replacement) Average age of menopause (1 year no menses) ~ range 45 – 55 years of age in US. After menopause yearly PAPs until Age 65 unless patient has a history of abnormal PAP or gynecology complaints that warrant an exam.
